The use of gas cylinders should follow the principle of “personal responsibility, standardized operation and regular inspection”, and the core norms cover the three key links of storage, handling and use, with specific requirements as follows:
1. Storage norms: the environment should be up to the standard, and the storage should be classified.
The place for storing gas cylinders should meet the requirements of well ventilated, cool and dry, far away from fire and heat source (at least 10 meters away from open fire), avoiding direct sunlight, and the ambient temperature should not be more than 40 ℃, and it is strictly prohibited to store them in high temperature, humidity and closed space (such as basement and small warehouse). At the same time, different types of gas cylinders need to be categorized and stored, prohibited mixed storage: combustible gases (such as hydrogen, acetylene, propane) and combustion gases (such as oxygen) need to be stored separately, with a distance of not less than 5 meters, and away from flammable, explosive, corrosive substances; corrosive gases need to be stored separately, set up special corrosive storage area, and do a good job of leakage prevention.
Cylinders need to be stored in an upright position, and it is strictly prohibited to dump or place them horizontally to prevent the liquid inside the cylinder (such as liquefied gas, acetone) from flowing out and causing danger; the bottom of the cylinder needs to be cushioned with rubber pads to prevent sliding and collision; the valve of the cylinder needs to be screwed tightly, and be equipped with a protective cap (which must be worn when transporting and storing) to prevent the valve from being damaged or the gas from leaking out.
2. Handling regulations: hold and put gently to prevent collision.
When handling gas cylinders, it is strictly prohibited to roll, throw, hit or drag to avoid damage to the cylinder material and gas leakage due to broken valves. Small cylinders can be hand-held protective cap handling (prohibited to lift the valve), large cylinders need to use special handling tools (such as cylinder trolley), handling needs to be fixed firmly to prevent tipping.
During the handling process, cylinders need to be kept upright, and it is strictly prohibited to place them horizontally or inverted; if long-distance transportation is required, it is necessary to choose the transportation vehicles that meet the safety standards, equipped with a special escort, and do a good job of fixing and protective measures to avoid sun exposure, rain and violent bumps. At the same time, before transportation, you need to check whether the cylinder valve is sealed and intact, and whether the protective cap is worn.
3. Use of norms: standardized operation, full monitoring
Before use, check the validity period of the gas cylinder (the cylinder needs to be inspected regularly, generally every 3-5 years, and cylinders that have been used for more than 8 years are strictly prohibited from use), the sealing of the valve, the integrity of the pressure gauge and the pressure reducing valve, and make sure that there is no leakage and no damage. When connecting the cylinder with the equipment, you need to choose the matching pressure reducing valve and pipeline, the connection part needs to be sealed tightly (you can use soapy water to check the leakage, no bubbles that is, sealing is good), is strictly prohibited the use of open flames to test the leakage.
When using, need to slowly open the cylinder valve, gradually adjust the pressure reducing valve pressure, is strictly prohibited to open the valve quickly, to prevent high-pressure gas impact piping and equipment; use the process, need to closely observe the pressure gauge readings, to maintain a stable pressure, shall not exceed the maximum pressure allowed by the equipment. At the same time, according to the nature of the gas to do a good job of personal protection: the use of toxic, corrosive gases, you need to wear gas masks, protective gloves, protective glasses, operating in the fume hood; the use of flammable gases, you need to ensure that the operating environment is well ventilated, and prohibit open flames near.
After use, you need to close the cylinder valve, wait until the gas in the pipeline is exhausted, and then close the pressure reducing valve and equipment valves, organize the pipeline and tools, put the cylinder back to the designated storage location, wear a good protective cap. It is strictly prohibited to discharge the remaining gas in the cylinder (especially toxic, hazardous and flammable gas), and it should be processed through the special recycling device.
